The large size of these antique urns or vases indicates they were used for silk flowers or wrought iron candelabra tops. They have recently been electrified and have hand stitched parchement shades adorned with gilt bullion fringe cords. The shaped shades are open to the back and the urns are carved in solid wood and have been burnished with silver leaf front and sides. The backs are left plain as this surface would have been left facing the wall hence unseen. Complete with vintage shades that may easily be changed to suit your needs. These Roman vase shaped candle holders ( torchere) have recently been electrified with black cord and inline switch with Australian plugs.

The Gagneau company was established in Paris in the Napoleonic era. It was famous for superb cast bronze and brass and received many awards for their excellent quality products and exhibited in the Paris Universal Exhibition 1889. The magnificent French Embassy built in 1908 in Vienna was entirely lit by Gagneau lamps.

The ancient Greek god Hermes also known as the Ancient Roman Mercury, was the god of travellers, translators and interpreters. He served as a messenger for all other gods and ruled over wealth , good fortune and commerce as well as fertility, hence his athletic physique. This statue is cast in bronzed spelter after an original from the Renaissance sculptor Giambologna for the Villa Medici in Rome.

Antique French Empire Bouilliotte lamp with two bronze candle sconces and toleware tin shade 1920 original in the 1820 manner. The shade has an adjustable height and glides along the central square post. it shields the eyes from the bright flame. Two candle sconces rise from the centre for wax candles. An oval drip tray below ensures stability and catches any wax drips.
Excellent condition for its age.

Tall elegant Art Deco style heavy floor lamps in solid cast bronze including hand made shade Australian electric fittings. Possibly bespoke designer made Maitland Smith floor lamp of excquisite quality.
The floor lamp base is very heavy and cast in solid bronze with hand burnished finish. It weights around 9.5kg and has been wired for standard Australian electricity with a standard large edison screw bulb fitting and foot push on/off control. Apparently it was purchased for $2600 in Melbourne in 2010
