Clearance below drawers is 60 cm . Wonderful original patina pale blonde mahogany top and mahogany veneers with intricate inlays and ebony string and fruitwood details. Raised on two lyre shaped form supports in the Regency manner with sabre leg supports terminating in brass claw feet. The craftsmanship and fruitwood (cherry) inlays are typical of the quality of workmanship demanded by Prussia's most famous neoclassical architect K F Schinkel and may well have been intended for one of his royal patronage.

Description Ornately carved French 18th century solid cherrywood desk. A rectangular top with well carved 3 drawers with ormolu handles with ornate twin pedestals flanking the centre. Each pedestal door with its own brass lock and key and ornate barrel hinges. The public side of the desk with carved ornate panels and marquetry inlay. The whole raised on carved cabriole legs. A good polished patina finish with solid cherrywood top completes this gorgeous provincial desk. Of note, this is an 18th century provincial piece that started its life as a very ornate trunk or chest and the desk side is a later adaption as desks of this size and design did not exist in the 18th century. The alteration is beautifully made with traditional hand carved details and pegged construction all in solid french cherrywood.

A gorgeous antique 18th century Cylindre top desk in the sheraton manner. This beautifully made piece of georgian made furniture has two lower drawers above a pull out writing surface that opens the cylindre top, revealing a fitted interior with five drawers. The superb inlay with fruitwood and boxwoods and the butterfly crest centre is carried forward in the lower drawer escutcheons. All locks work and are with keys. The lower taper legs were originally demountable so that they would fit into the drawers when the desk was used abord a sailing ship. Note the anchor emblems to the handles. Red leather tooled writing surface interior. Well polished finish and all marquetry drawers with brass handles.

The unusual size makes this a very versatile piece of antique furniture. Its level desk top height of 91 cm and is ideal as a lamp table or pedestal for an impressive vase full of flowers or sculpture.
The square table top over a single deep drawer with turned wood knob is raised by four sturdy square legs joined by a solid stretcher.
Good original waxed polished patina finish all round. Possibly made for a maritime captain or docklands clerk to check off the cargo manifest. It may even have travelled well around the globe many times on bord a clipper ship! This is a very heavy table in good original condition and is strong and sturdy. The unusualy dense timber is heavy like jarrah, ironbark or rosewood.

Antique Karl Johan period Swedish satin birch escritoire secretaire or fall front desk in superb condition circa 1820-1830. Beautifully fitted with internal drawers and central door. The top with carved edge moulding in birch over a shaped front top drawer. The desk fall front is counter balanced and has a hidden internal steel hinge. Complete with all locks and keys, it very hard to find such a beautiful piece of Empire or Biedermeier furniture in such excellent condition. All locks work smoothly. There is even a cubby hole for your laptop or tablet in the central open compartment. This internal compartment measures for depth 40 cm width 39.5 cm and height 7.5 cm. Flanked by well turned and carved columns and with nicely detailed top edge. Dates from the first quarter of the 19th century and is very compatible with Biedermeier, Art Deco , Empire or Regency interiors. Superb figuring in the satin birch veneers.

The desk top with tooled gilt edge green leather top with a lovely well cared for patina. A central drawer with brass original steel key and push pull opening mechanism that also centrally locks all the drawers when closed. This drawer is flanked by three graduated size drawers per side. All drawers open smoothly and are in full mahogany with hand cut dovetail joints. Below the centre drawer and set back to the kneehole space is a double door cabinet that opens with a key to reveal shaped divisions inside. The pedestals are raised ornate carved legs with anthenium scrolls and have solid brass castors underneath to allow for easy moving. Wonderful original french polished patina in very good condition. The desk front inlay is superb with boulle work in brass bronze pearl shell etc. A serpentine shaped front drawer below is also enhanced with boulle inlay and when opened reveals a satinwood interior with various compartments ideal for precious jewellery etc. Raised on carved and ebonized fruitwood cabriole legs with ormolu mounts. Description Antique museum quality walnut baroque 1760's secretaire desk in well figured walnut with cherrywood string inlay with exquisite fitted interior. The 3 shaped serpentine front drawers below the shallow drawer flanked by pull out supports to the desk top. The drop front writing surface with carved walnut baroque molding and brass escutcheon.
The writing surface is 77 cm off the ground with generous legroom clearance below top.. allowing for armchair space! When opened the writing surface measures W 111cm and an overall depth of 69cm. The ornate interior with serpentine shaped drawers comparments and central door with steel key. The three large serpentine shaped front lower drawers with marquetry inlay. All drawers open smoothly and have been well serviced. Two original brass keys for the locks included. Fabulous polished patina finish makes this a very rare and desirable desk. It is made in the traditional manner in two sections for easy relocation: desk top and three drawer chest below.

Quality such as this is very hard to find and is usually made by noted cabient makers such as David Roentgen (1743-1807), a famous German 18th century cabinetmaker who also supplied the Russian Imperial family. He had shops in both Berlin and in St Petersburg .
