Description
Rare antique blonde Biedermeier settee of Karelian birch with parcel ebonized detail and comfortable upholstered seat and back.
The architectural design with rasied arched pediment and ebonized panel to back.
The elegant curved edges join the solid sturdy armrests. These are further enhanced by neoclassical column fronts in solid Karelian birch.
Karelian birch is a very rare wood and growns very slowly producing highly figurative knotty grain. It is only grown in present day Finland and remains very precious.
The sides with padded upholstery inside and with Karelian birch exteriors.
The generous seat is enhanced with stitched edge and made more luxurious with springs under the seat for extra comfort.
These types of elegant settees
really make a statement in any interior and are usually meant to be up against
a wall. This sofa however has had the back upholstered in the same fabric to match the front albeit with slight sun bleaching.
Blond Biedermeier or late Empire furniture of this quality is very rare indeed. This settee also retains its gorgeous original french polished finish.
