Classic Art Deco Swedish blonde satin birch settee Biedermeier revival ebony inlaid with secret compartments. Vintage upholstered with black trim. Each armrest is well designed as a block of satin birch with ebony string inlay that elegantly outlines the solid shapes. The armrest tops are hinged and there is a compartment within to tidy up with. Scandinavian settees often doubled as beds for guests hence the seat length of 176cm In very good order and original french polished finish.

The elegant and light design would have been made to be placed in front of a long French window or in an alcove. The shallow depth of only 34 cm does not take up too much precious floor space great for hallway seating!.
This size makes them very versatile and is much sought after by designers. Recent upholstery in rich black textured fabric to contrast the blonde wood.

Description Rare antique blonde Biedermeier settee of Karelian birch with parcel ebonized detail and comfortable upholstered seat and back. The architectural design with rasied arched pediment and ebonized panel to back. The elegant curved edges join the solid sturdy armrests. These are further enhanced by neoclassical column fronts in solid Karelian birch. Karelian birch is a very rare wood and growns very slowly producing highly figurative knotty grain. It is only grown in present day Finland and remains very precious. The sides with padded upholstery inside and with Karelian birch exteriors. The generous seat is enhanced with stitched edge and made more luxurious with springs under the seat for extra comfort.
These types of elegant settees really make a statement in any interior and are usually meant to be up against a wall. This sofa however has had the back upholstered in the same fabric to match the front albeit with slight sun bleaching.
Blond Biedermeier or late Empire furniture of this quality is very rare indeed. This settee also retains its gorgeous original french polished finish.

The arched back in solid walnut with vintage added upholstery in faux black suede. A lift out squab cushion sits on the ebonised seat panel. The elegant armrests with turned Regency style rails in ebonised walnut with solid walnut panels and sabre legs. The front of the settee with three cartouche ebonised inlay panels with bronze ormolu mounts in the French Empire manner. Very comfortable and good back support with that mid 19th century European aesthetic. Good originl patina french polished finish. To change the vintage upholstery is an easy task as both upholstered seat and back come off the settee.

Description Very Rare American Mahogany Federal Period Settee with carved Bats wing lion paw feet supports, Acanthus scrolls and lion head cabuchons with central sunflower motif to back. Traditional full turned rear legs all this original castor supports. This piece has been totally reupholstered in the traditional manner with stitched edge and teased horsehair matrass. Two bolsters in Regency stripe finish the matched upholstery. It has been simpathetically uplolstered to the back so it may be used in the centre of the room, although traditionaly all sofas were meant to be placed against a wall. This piece has a much sought after original shellac patina and has not been refinished. It is a museum quality piece of rare Americana, in Australia.
