Description
Solid carved stone black basalt or
marble sculptured figure carved from a single monolithic block.
This rare statue of an ancient Egyptian nobleman
as a Visier or Paraoh and is life size for the period with very well carved
proportions.
Extremely heavy as its carved
from one solid block of stone and weighs in excess of 300 kg.
the arms are carved from the same
single block and the support stone near the wrists is still in place, clearly
this is a copy of a period ancient sculpture as this was traditional for most
stone sculptures prior to freight and delivery to prevent breakages and could
have been grpund away once the sattue was firmly in place.
As this may have been excavted in the same condition,
perhaps from a shipwreck sunk at sea, it makes perfect sense that these
connecting points are still attached and that this particular carved replica is
ture to the ancient archaeological original in every aspect.
