Description Rare pair antique Regency period large heavy cut glass Irish Georgian campagna urns from Cork 1820 original. Irish glass is amongst the most luxurious glassware of the Georgian period. These heavy cut Georgian pieces were made in the English owned factories in Cork and Waterford in Ireland and then shipped to England where they would be taxed upon arrival on the finished cut weight of the glass whereas in England the same taxes applied to the weight of English made glass before it was cut or ground These examples displays the luxurious thickness and weight of glass used in the horizontal cut bands below the ornate rim typical of early Cork and Waterford glassware. The larger the glassware item from this period the rarer it is.
In very good order with no cracks. Minor chip to pedestal corner.

The style of these glasses although unsigned and unmarked are very similar to the tear drop glasses designed by Erika Lagerbielke for Orrefors. The tapering funnel shaped bowls are however different from the Intermezzo design of Orrefors and are all hand blown and perfect for toasting.
Its is very rare to find vintage blown stemware of the mid 20th century and in good condition. There are of course tiny variations as these are all hand made hand blown glasses.
Ideal tall glasses for toasting wine with considerable elegance. In very good condition

The narvette shaped bowls with dentilled or castellated top and facette cut bowl raised on Diamond shaped pedestals. This is a classic example of Georgian era Irish cut glass luxury. In Georgian England glassware was taxed before it was cut and shaped ie in the raw. The talent for quality glass blowers moved to the coastal regions in Ireland such as Waterford and Cork with ready access to sea freight. The finished cut and polished glass was taxed as it arrived in England giving the Irish makers a significant edge to their very high quality luxury products.

Orrefors labels were usually attached made of paper. Hand blown glass wine cooler designed by Nils Landberg for Orrefors, Sweden circa 1950. Nils Landberg born 26.05.1907 in Vastra Sodermalmland. he was a Swedish glass artist. He was educated in graphic design ain Goteborg 1923-1925. He joined Orrefors glass works in 1925 and stayed until his retirement in 1972. Landberg exhibited his glasswares in 1937 paris and in 1939 new York World Fair. He also won the gold medal at Triennale di Milano in 1957.

Large 19th century English Victorian cut glass wine carafe decanter with facetted neck and Lozenge cuts to body and flat broad base. Similar types are refered to as Ships decanters as their body has the mass of the wine at the base for stability. many of these "ships" decanters however never saw the rigours of the sea, it was just a practical design for stability. Large decanters such as these were also particularly used for wine. The surface area within the decanter allowed for airation and breathing of those heavier reds. This decanter will easily hold 3 pints plus.

The roll over rim shape with cut and moulded edge raised on shaped and facet cut pedestals to round plinth base. In the late Georgian era an English glass tax was imposed on the raw uncut glassware prior to decoration levied upon the weight of the glass. The coastal towns of Ireland became production centres for fine glassware as only the finished glass was taxed by weight upon import into England. This gave the Irish manufacturers an 'edge" to their quality products against the English manufacturers.
This high quality style of glassware has had a revival with the iconic company of William Yeoward who recreated these gorgeous items in cut crystal toward end of the 20th century .
In very good condition for its age and use.
