The entire wooden frame and ornaments in gilt gesso with watergilt details, hidden with later applied gold paintwork. The top of the mirror with a Chapeau de gendarme pediment featuring the most unusual marquetry inlay in cherrywood. Traditionally these horns were the well recognized sign of the postman, announcing that mail had arrived.

A very wonderful emblabatic design for the happy couple with large double trunked trees and smaller ones surround the temple denote the growing family. Note the four pillars supporting the rotunda roof.

Antique French Empire giltwood mirror with fine carved border highlighted in water gilt brilliant finish adn matt gilt details and a s avalue point, this retains its original hand drawn crystal glass with mercurial silvered backing. Mirrors such as these may have cost a bit in their time but the glass was always the most expensive and impressive piece of technilogy, especially single pane mirrors such as this. The frame of this mirror may used vertically (portrait style0 or horizontally ( landscape style) which is most unusual as 99.9 of antique mirrors were portrait orientated to reflect architectural norms regarding window appertures.
